PASTORAL CARE

Pastoral care is provision a school makes to ensure the physical and emotional welfare of its pupils. Education and health are closely linked and so studies have shown that pupils with good physical and emotional health perform better at school and are able to achieve more academically. Pastoral care within school ensures children feel safe, happy and involved within their school community.

Here at Ewelme C.E Primary our PSHE curriculum underpins our pastoral care, as do our 5 ‘R’s of being Ready, Respectful, Responsible, Resilient and Reflective. As a small school community with a nurturing and inclusive ethos, we are able to quickly identify those children who may need additional support emotionally. All staff are approachable and well known to the children, who know they can speak to an adult about any worries.

Additional support may be provided in the form of  talking through any worries with an adult, working in small groups or 1:1 or ensuring some additional support is provided during breaks or lunchtimes. In some cases, and depending on the particular circumstances, external advice may be sought or provided as per our Safeguarding and SEND policies and provision.
